JOMSOM MUKTINATH trekking begins from Birethanti and ends in Jomsom. The Jomsom is the headquarter of Mustang District and major trading center too.This trekking heads towards north to Kagbeni valley along the river bank of Kali Gandaki, the deepest gorge in the world, following the trial it finally takes to Muktinath temple. It passes through many fascinating THAKALI indigenous peoples settlements sails out the Marpha,Tukuche,Larjung villages, There are some apple brandy factories. You also can enjoy having shower in hot spring and from same way, you will return back to Jomsom from Muktinath and fly back to Pokhara.
JomsomMuktinath was a place of great trekking route some year ago but now due to the development of road,it can be visited as tour by Jeep. You can have 2 night 3 days tour from Pokhara-Jomsom/Muktinath-Pokhara. It is an easy trek so is called HONEYMOON TREK. After your breakfast. After an hour drive to Birethanti, a large and prosperous town beside the ModiRiver.you head up the main trail to Ramgai and Sudame where you climb gradually up the side of the valley, reaching Hile (1495m) before pushing on to TikheDhunga(1575m), from here the trail crosses a stream (BhrungdiKhola) and then ascends a steep stone staircase to the large Magar village at Ulleri. This is a pleasant walking day today.you trek through rhododendron (Nepali National Flower) and oak forests and across streams before making a short, final climb to Nangethanti, From Nangethanti you head up to Ghorepani.This day, you will see some birds and some mamals too. Overnight at Lodge.
An early start and 45 minutes hiking to Poon Hill (3210m) leads you to a brilliant spectacle, this vantage point provides an unobstructed view of sunrise over the high Himalayas.From here you can not only see the sunrise but also the panoramic views of Himalayas including Mt.Dhaulagiri (8167m), Mt. It is an enjoy a beautiful days because You start to walk through the Kali Gandaki valley, where is the deepest gorge all over the world.You will continue along the Kali Gandaki riverside, gradually ascending into sub-tropical vegetation.You will cross the BhaluKhola on a high suspension bridges before arriving at Dana (1450m). You will see a very high beautiful waterfall,RUPSEcHHAHARA on your way.Afterhere,you will continue through the steepest and narrowest part of the Kali Gandaki valley, where much of the route is cut through solid rock. You will cross the river again on a 120m long bridge to the east side to Ghasa, an ethnic Thakali villages and this marks the southern most limit of Tibetian Buddhism in the valley. After your breakfast, you will follow the Kali Gandakiriver, passing through a narrow gorge before reaching Thakali traditional villages.This day, you will cross the gorge and river numerous times via long suspension bridges, where you will make great photo opportunities. You have an easy and lovely days walking where you pass the village of Khobang, which has narrow alleyways and tunnels connecting houses. You can make short side trip to a Buddhist temple is called KANTI GOMPA. Then YOU continues to Tukuchethakali village (2580m), where is a wine-brandy distillery, then walk through the orange orchid street to get Marpha. Here, you will visit some very attractive Buddhist Gompas, which are painted with a whitewash produced from a special local stone. Overnight at Lodge.
Today the road is not difficult but can become harder because of strong winds in this particular area in the afternoon so you have to leave your hotel as early as morning. When crossing the ShyangKhola, you walk through the village of Shyang to Jomsom (2760m). After this,you follow the trail along the Kali Gandaki river through EkleBhatti to reach town of Kagbeni (2840m). This town has closely packed mud houses, dark tunnels and alleys and a large ochre-colouredGompa perched above the town. From here we will follow a flagstone trail and passes two tunnels. Today, your trail will ascend to Muktinath which is an important pilgrimage place for Hindus and Buddhists. You will climb up through Khingar village (3400m) to Jharkot (3500m), You will continue hike up first part of Muktinath which is known as Ranipauwa, Overnight at Lodge.
Early in the morning, you will hike 30 minutes to Muktinatha.This is the famous Hindus temple. Many pilgrimage comes from different part of Nepal, even from India during the Hindus biggest festival BIJAYA DASHAMI. You can spend 3o minutes around the Temple to see some of the holy Hindu places like an eternal flame coming from natural gas next to a spring which is considered holy as well, thenback to Hotel for hot breakfast.Today, you will have an easy day walking back to Jomsom following a different route, but can be tedious if you are unlucky to get the strong winds. You will see the people of upper Mustang, a restricted area to the north, who come to sell handicrafts to pilgrims. Among their merchandise is the highly-revered mollusk fossil called shaligram. YOu will pass some ancient caves with splendid view of the Mt.Dhaulagiri.
