Bhutan

Bhutan (Bhutan General Information) is a tiny and a land-locked country surrounded by mountains. It has a total area of about 4,700 sq km. Bhutan is located in the eastern Himalayas, between Tibet to the north, the Indian territories of Assam and West Bengal, to the south and east, and Sikkim to the west. Bhutan is situated in the heart of the high Himalayan mountain range. The sparsely populated Greater Himalayas is bounded to the north by the Tibetan plateau. The heights of over 7,300 meters and extended southward form the fertile valleys of the Lesser Himalayas which is divided by the Wang, Sunkosh, Trongsa and Manas Rivers. The orange part of the flag represents the Drukpas monasteries and Buddhist religious practice, while the saffron yellow field denotes the secular authority of the dynasty. Regarding the dragon, it represents Druk, the Tibetan name for the kingdom of Bhutan. The jewels clamped in the dragon's claws symbolize wealth. The snarling mouth represents the strength of the male and female deities protecting the country.
