Jomsom Muktinath Trekking

Jomsom TrekkingJOMSOM MUKTINATH trekking has been one of the most demanding and popular trekking destination trails in Annapurna Region. This Trekking is also known as pilgrims' trekking to have tour around the Muktinath, one of the Hindu and Buddhist shrines in the country. You will visti the hundreds years old monastery, caves, local tribes, culture and lifestyle and scenic beauties of the different landscapes. You can see 108 water taps around the Temple and two small pounds in front of the Temple. The Hindu people believe that if they take bath on 108 taps,they will be free from their sinful.Those taps are shape of cow's heads, which pour forth sacred water. This trekking is called the gate way to the upper mustang and known as SMALL TIBET. Subsequently,this trekking is located in the north of the Pokhara valley and best area to have nearest views of mountains lying in the Annapurna Region. also to have bath in natural hot Spring in Tatopani. you will have chance to have trekking in Poon Hill for sunrise over the mountain panoramic views of snow-capped Himalayas such as Mt. JOMSOM MUKTINATH trekking begins from Birethanti and ends in Jomsom. The Jomsom is the headquarter of Mustang District and major trading center too.This trekking heads towards north to Kagbeni valley along the river bank of Kali Gandaki, the deepest gorge in the world, following the trial it finally takes to Muktinath temple. It passes through many fascinating THAKALI indigenous peoples settlements sails out the Marpha,Tukuche,Larjung villages, There are some apple brandy factories. You also can enjoy having shower in hot spring and from same way, you will return back to Jomsom from Muktinath and fly back to Pokhara.

JomsomMuktinath was a place of great trekking route some year ago but now due to the development of road,it can be visited as tour by Jeep. You can have 2 night 3 days tour from Pokhara-Jomsom/Muktinath-Pokhara. It is an easy trek so is called HONEYMOON TREK. This trek was done by many newly married couple before because of the well accommodation, food and peace enviroment. Most of the couple is offering this trek/tour still now.

Trip Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu airport (1345m)
There you will be met by our Airport Representative and transferred to hotel by private tourist vehicle. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Sightseeing around Kathmandu valley.
Your sightseeing will be visited places according to your interest.

Day 03: Kathmandu to Pokhara(910m) 5/6 hrs driving or fly 45 minutes
Early in the morning,yOur Trekking guide will come at the Hotel to pick you up and you walk from hotel few minutes to get Tourist bus station (Kantipath).You will drive through scenic foothills, passing along the road at the bank of will have nice view of Annapurna, terraces and green hills with many Nepali town. While you reach to POkhara at noon,you can have sightseeing on the lakeside and boating at Phewa lake. From Kathmandu to Pokhara is about 206km.You will have your Breakfast and Lunch on the way.If you want,We can provide private vehicle as well. It is much more conformable for your driving. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 04: Drive to Birethanti (1100m), trek to Ulleri(2073m) 4 hrs
After your breakfast. After an hour drive to Birethanti, a large and prosperous town beside the head up the main trail to Ramgai and Sudame where you climb gradually up the side of the valley, reaching Hile (1495m) before pushing on to TikheDhunga(1575m), from here the trail crosses a stream (BhrungdiKhola) and then ascends a steep stone staircase to the large Magar village at Ulleri. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 05: Ulleri to Ghorepani (2850m) 5 hrs
This is a pleasant walking day trek through rhododendron (Nepali National Flower) and oak forests and across streams before making a short, final climb to Nangethanti, From Nangethanti you head up to Ghorepani.This day, you will see some birds and some mamals too. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 06: Ghorepani to Poon Hill to Tatopani (1189m).5 hrs
An early start and 45 minutes hiking to Poon Hill (3210m) leads you to a brilliant spectacle, this vantage point provides an unobstructed view of sunrise over the high Himalayas.From here you can not only see the sunrise but also the panoramic views of Himalayas including Mt.Dhaulagiri (8167m), Mt. Annapurna I (8091m), Mt.Nilgiri (7040m),Annapurna south (7219m),Annapurna II(7937m), Annapurna III (7555m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Hunchuli (6441m), fishtail (Machhapuchhare) (6998m), LamjungHimal (6986m),Tukuche peak (6920m), Dhampus peak (6012m) among others.You can also see various kinds of butter flies and enjoy with the blend of culture and traditions of various ethnic groups such as Bramin ,Chhetri, Magar,Thakali,andgurung and making the trips to the areas,After spending about 40 minutes on the hillside,you come back to your hotel to have a hot and fresh breakfast.After spending about 40 minutes on the hillside,You will decend through the forests with excellent mountain views to reach Tatopani(Hot Spring). Day 07: Tatopani to Ghasa (2120m) 6/7 hrs
It is an enjoy a beautiful days because You start to walk through the Kali Gandaki valley, where is the deepest gorge all over the world.You will continue along the Kali Gandaki riverside, gradually ascending into sub-tropical vegetation.You will cross the BhaluKhola on a high suspension bridges before arriving at Dana (1450m). You will see a very high beautiful waterfall,RUPSEcHHAHARA on your way.Afterhere,you will continue through the steepest and narrowest part of the Kali Gandaki valley, where much of the route is cut through solid rock. You will cross the river again on a 120m long bridge to the east side to Ghasa, an ethnic Thakali villages and this marks the southern most limit of Tibetian Buddhism in the valley. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 08: Ghasa to Larjung (2560m) 5 hrs
After your breakfast, you will follow the Kali Gandakiriver, passing through a narrow gorge before reaching Thakali traditional villages.This day, you will cross the gorge and river numerous times via long suspension bridges, where you will make great photo opportunities. YOu will pass Lete, Kalopani and KokhethatiThakali Villages with the top of Dhaulagiri mountain peeking over the west side. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 09: Larjung to Marpha (2776m) 4hrs
You have an easy and lovely days walking where you pass the village of Khobang, which has narrow alleyways and tunnels connecting houses. You can make short side trip to a Buddhist temple is called KANTI GOMPA. Then YOU continues to Tukuchethakali village (2580m), where is a wine-brandy distillery, then walk through the orange orchid street to get Marpha. Here, you will visit some very attractive Buddhist Gompas, which are painted with a whitewash produced from a special local stone. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 10: Marpha to Kagbeni (2840m) 4hrs
Today the road is not difficult but can become harder because of strong winds in this particular area in the afternoon so you have to leave your hotel as early as morning. When crossing the ShyangKhola, you walk through the village of Shyang to Jomsom (2760m). After this,you follow the trail along the Kali Gandaki river through EkleBhatti to reach town of Kagbeni (2840m). This town has closely packed mud houses, dark tunnels and alleys and a large ochre-colouredGompa perched above the town. From here we will follow a flagstone trail and passes two tunnels. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 11: Kagbeni to RaniPauwa (3800m) 4 hrs
Today, your trail will ascend to Muktinath which is an important pilgrimage place for Hindus and Buddhists. You will climb up through Khingar village (3400m) to Jharkot (3500m), You will continue hike up first part of Muktinath which is known as Ranipauwa, Overnight at Lodge.

Day 12: Ranipauwa to Muktinath to Jomsom (2713m) 5 hrs
Early in the morning, you will hike 30 minutes to Muktinatha.This is the famous Hindus temple. Many pilgrimage comes from different part of Nepal, even from India during the Hindus biggest festival BIJAYA DASHAMI. You can spend 3o minutes around the Temple to see some of the holy Hindu places like an eternal flame coming from natural gas next to a spring which is considered holy as well, thenback to Hotel for hot breakfast.Today, you will have an easy day walking back to Jomsom following a different route, but can be tedious if you are unlucky to get the strong winds. You will see the people of upper Mustang, a restricted area to the north, who come to sell handicrafts to pilgrims. Among their merchandise is the highly-revered mollusk fossil called shaligram. YOu will pass some ancient caves with splendid view of the Mt.Dhaulagiri. You also transit at the significant town of Kagbeni, which is at a junction of 2 rivers and the north-south and east-west trading routes. Overnight at Lodg

Day 13: Jomsom to Pokhara (30 minutes, fly)
Fly to Pokhara and spend the day at leisure, relaxing, and maybe enjoying a massage or enjoy sightseeing around Pokhara valley. Overnight in Pokhara.

Day 14: Pokhara to Kathmandu.(by private vehicle) 4/5 hrs or fly
After your breakfast,you will drive/fly to Kathmandu. Overnight at Hotel

Day 15: Transfer to international airport for your final departure.
Our Airport Representative will drop you to the Kathmandu International Airport for your flight departure from Nepal.
